For university labs

Run the lab, not the sign-up sheet.

A makerspace serves dozens of students across a wall of mixed machines — and lives in the lab manager’s head. AutoPrintFarm makes it one source of truth: one fair queue, scoped access for staff and students, and a record of who printed what.

The problem

A wall of printers, a clipboard, and no accountability.

Students wait on a paper sign-up sheet while two machines sit idle. Nobody knows who started the print that failed at 2am, who’s next, or which printers even work today. The lab manager becomes the queue, the help desk, and the auditor — all at once, for everyone.

What changes

Run the floor and the business as one.

One source of truth for staff and students

The clipboard, the group chat, and the sticky notes collapse into one queue everyone can see. No more “is that one free?” — the lab’s real state is on the screen.

  • Live status across every machine and brand
  • A shared queue that’s fair, not first-to-shout

The right access for every role

Owner, admin, operator, and viewer roles fit a real lab: staff manage the fleet, student operators run jobs, and viewers watch without touching anything they shouldn’t.

  • Owner / admin / operator / viewer roles
  • Students run jobs without admin keys

Accountability you can actually pull up

Every job is tied to a person and a printer, so when something fails or a spool runs dry, you know who, what, and which machine — not a guess from the morning after.

  • Per-user and per-printer job history
  • Usage by machine for budgeting and grants

To bring the lab online

1:1

Every job tied to a person

How it works

From order to shipped box.

  1. 01

    Bring the whole lab online

One hub links every Bambu, Prusa, and Klipper machine over the lab’s Wi-Fi — in about five minutes, no plugins, no SD-card shuffle, no IT ticket.

  2. 02

    Give everyone the right keys

Invite staff as admins and students as operators. Each person gets exactly the access their role needs — and nothing more.

  3. 03

Let the queue keep it fair

Jobs land in one shared queue and route to whatever’s free. Staff approve, students watch their spot, and idle machines stop being a mystery.

University labs FAQ

Questions, answered.

Can students run prints without admin access?

Yes. Invite students as operators — they can queue and run jobs and watch the fleet, but can’t change settings, remove printers, or touch other people’s work. Staff hold the admin and owner roles.

Can I see who printed what?

Every job is tied to the person who started it and the printer that ran it, so the history is there when a print fails, a spool runs dry, or you need usage numbers for a budget or grant.

Does it work with our mix of printer brands?

Yes — Bambu Lab, Prusa, and Klipper/Voron machines sit in one fleet view, so a lab full of mismatched gear runs from a single queue instead of a different app per shelf.

How is the queue kept fair across many users?

Everyone shares one queue instead of a paper sign-up sheet or whoever shouts loudest. Jobs route to whatever printer is free, staff approve, and students can see their place in line — no more idle machines next to a waiting list.
